Glenbrook North gets by OPRF on Newman's shutout

Glenbrook North pitcher Melanie Newman needed a shutout and provided one as the Spartans softball team defeated Oak Park-River Forest 1-0 Wednesday in Northbrook.
Newman struck out two in the complete game victory. Shortstop Lindsay Synek knocked in the winning run for Glenbrook North (4-4, 1-0 Central Suburban League North) with an RBI double. She had a perfect day at the plate as she also collected a single and a walk.
